Hi, I'm Rory Engle-Pratt (he/they) a ceramics maker, writer, and career server, barista, and restaurant manager. I have joyfully explored many mediums since childhood including zines and comics, figure drawing, collage, and sculpture. I have an AFA in printmaking and a BFA in art history and English. After college I focused on writing poetry, but wanted a return to a visual medium. I started taking classes at the Potter's Guild in 2016 with Anna Crooks and very quickly developed a passion for handbuilding.

I have been making ceramics consistently now for almost 10 years. I love the process of handbuilding, particularly slab construction and miniature sculpting. I like to craft delicate and precise but playful pieces, including porcelain cats and tiny guinea pigs, chicken shaped butter dishes, trinket shelves, and abstract tripod pinch pots. I'm inspired by domestic companion animals, the Arts and Crafts movement, Scottish Art Nouveau, knickknack and flotsam collections, the long and varied history of animal figures in ceramics, my mother's childhood collection of cat figurines, and my own childhood obsession with making, collecting, and building a dense world of miniatures and beautiful trash.
