I came to pottery as a way to slow down and manage my mental health. What started as a casual hobby quickly became a serious passion—little did I know that the moment my hands touched the clay, every cell in my body would light up. I primarily make functional stoneware, often hand-built, sometimes wheel-thrown, and always guided by curiosity and intuition. I especially enjoy exploring surface techniques and forms that challenge symmetry and perfection.
Since moving to Baltimore in 2021, I’ve found a sense of connection through the city’s clay community. I’ve taken classes at The Guild and Baltimore Clayworks, apprenticed with local artists, and volunteered at NCECA. I am also honored to support the administrative and operational needs of The Color Network whose mission is to aid in the advancement of people of color in the ceramic arts.
I occasionally sell my work under the name Sa Lapok Ceramics—"of the mud" in Bisaya, a dialect of the Philippines. Outside of clay, I work in UX design and as a social worker. I live in Baltimore City with my husband and our pit-mix, Boh (yes, a nod to Bawlmer).
