Member Artist: Fred Yaffe

Artist Statement

Fred is a graduate of Maryland Institute, and a former Clayworks Studio member.
His work ranges from Architectural scale vessels to tableware (stoneware and porcelain), always within the constraints of the functional.
 
Currently an instructor at the Guild, Fred is researching the production processes of potters involved in the manufacture of shipping amphoras from around the time of Christ. With a view to reducing firing costs, he is working at cone six electric/oxidation, testing firing routines and glazes.
